When reminiscing on past adventures, it's never the details of the activity I remember most. The route, scenery, decisions made, the downhill shred - they all merge into one faded memory.
What I'll always remember is the time spent with great partners, forging our friendships amongst the challenges and experiences offered that day. The emotions shared run the gamut from exhaustion, doubt, concern - to peace, compassion, and exhilaration.
I remember getting back to the car after the long day out, just in time for the clouds to turn black and release a torrential springtime downpour. The smiles, high-fives, laughs, and peaceful elation in that moment, feeling as though we just got away with something far grander than spending a simple day in the mountains.
